Techniques to Use Essential Oils for Cellulite
By Caryn Gehlmann

Let’s begin by saying that no essential oils for cellulite will completely eliminate cellulite. As much as we may personally dislike it, cellulite is unlikely to disappear any time soon. However, there are things you can do to encourage circulation thus, supporting your skin’s health.
One combination that many find minimizes the appearance of cellulite is dry brushing followed up with the application of a blend of essential oils. (For our recommended Cellulite Blend — see below.) There are many health benefits to dry brushing — it increases blood circulation, gets your lymphatic system activated, exfoliates your skin, and as an added bonus help smooth out the appearance of cellulite. I’ll share some tips on dry brushing in just a moment.
For better results, follow-up dry brushing by massaging a blend of essential oils to the areas of your body where cellulite is a concern. In 2017 a scientific review was published in the journal, Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine, which listed many essential oils used in dermatology, including cellulite. (Remember to dilute when applying essential oils to your skin. Click here for safe dilution guidelines.)
Here are 3 easy tips to use essential oils for cellulite:
- Begin by dry brushing your skin with a natural bristle dry brush. Use long strokes on your limbs and circular motions on your abdomen and back. Be gentle around your breasts and neck by lightning the amount of pressure. Be careful not to overdo it which can cause skin irritation. A few overlapping strokes is more than adequate.
- Take a shower to remove any dead skin cells.
- After your shower, massage the Cellulite Blend (the recipe is below) to your skin in the areas of concern. Avoid contact with delicate or sensitive areas. In addition to giving your skin a treat, this sweet-smelling blend will give you a lovely start to your day!
