How to Feel More Energized — Add EOs Each Morning
By Caryn Gehlmann
Here in the Northwest, the days are very short in January. Many of us leave for work in the dark and come home at the end of the day in the dark. Dark days can sap our energy a bit so you may be wondering how to feel more energized without relying on too much caffeine! Thankfully, essential oils can help reinvigorate you without giving you the jitters or a stomach ache!
You might look forward to using relaxing essential oils at the end of your day but which essential oils work well to kick start your morning? We provide three recipes (along with shortcuts if you don’t have time to make your own) for easy ways to give yourself a bit of a lift and feel more energized as you start your day.
How to feel more energized each morning? Try these 3 aromatherapy tips & recipes…
Tip #1 — Incorporate essential oils into your morning shower
Can’t seem to find any time in the morning. This tip incorporates invigorating aromatherapy into your morning routine.
e3’s “Bright Morning” Spritzer
- 1-ounce bottle with atomizer spray cap
- 10 drops e3 Female Harmony blend* or Ylang Ylang essential oil
- 1 oz (30 ml or 600 drops) Carrier Oil (Fractionated Coconut or Sweet Almond are generally light enough to spray through a spritzer cap without clogging it)
Add essential oils to your glass bottle and then add the carrier oil. Shake well. After you shower in the morning, spritz onto your skin, then lightly massage evenly into your arms, legs, and torso.
Shortcut — Use e3’s Breathe Easy Shower Mist IN the shower
You can use this premixed shower mist in the shower. Once you are in the shower and the water is on, shake the bottle, close your eyes, and spritz Breathe Easy Shower Mist, starring Eucalyptus & Mint in a semi-circle at shoulder height. Breathe deeply for three seconds.
Tip #2 — Set up your diffuser the night before
Diffusing an uplifting scent as you’re getting ready is a fantastic way to energize your morning. However, if you’re rushing to get to work or the kids to school, it ends up being one more thing to do. So take a few minutes at night and prep your diffuser with your “morning blend” and then all you have to do is turn it on.
e3’s Happy Morning EO Blend
- 10 drops of a citrus essential oil (Orange, Bergamot, Lemon)
- 10 drops of either Peppermint or Spearmint
Shortcut — Use one of e3’s Energizing Blends
If you don’t want to make your own blend, here are some e3 premade blends we carry that many find energizing in the morning — e3’s Respiratory, Breathe Easy, Revitalize. And you don’t even need a diffuser, another shortcut is to use a tissue with a drop of your favorite blend and inhale it as you get ready.
Tip #3 — Use essential oils to perk you up on your commute
If you spend time commuting, the right essential oil blend will keep you alert yet relaxed along your way.
e3’s “Up-Tempo Commute” Blend
3 drops Grapefruit
2 drop Rosemary
2 drops Eucalyptus, Globulus
1 Natural stone diffuser, cotton ball/pad, or tissue
Add essential oils directly to a natural stone diffuser or a cotton ball/tissue. Hang or set stone diffuser in an area where the oil will not come in contact with the car’s interior, or stuff the cotton ball or tissue into an air vent with the essential oil side facing out. (Some oils can harm the finish of your vehicle, so be careful to avoid direct contact.) Take deep breaths while driving.
Shortcut — Use an aromatherapy inhaler for easy access anywhere you go
Add essential oils to your aromatherapy inhaler, or add a few drops of each to a tissue to keep in your pocket. Whenever you need a pick-me-up, hold the inhaler or tissue under your nose, and take a deep breath, pause, then exhale slowly. Additional pre-mixed blends we recommend: e3’s Harmony, Pick Me Up, or Breathe Easy.
We must continually experiment and find how to feel energized for ourselves, because we all have different physical needs and circumstances. Is it lack of sleep? Not enough exercise? Stress? Unhealthful habits dragging you down? Anxiety? Once you identify a cause, you can start working on the solution.
And when you add aromatherapy to that solution it creates a synergy that really makes a difference. I invite you to get acquainted with the therapeutic properties of e3’s essential oils and start blending to match your needs. Then create a routine — a consistent practice — that incorporates this nurturing aspect of self care.
