How to Make Detoxifying Bath Salts
To start, you’ll need Epsom salt, which helps soothe muscles and relieve tension, and baking soda, which softens the skin and helps balance pH levels in the bath. For a touch of aromatherapy add your favorite essential oils. The result is a rejuvenating soak that can ease stress, promote relaxation, and leave your skin feeling soft and refreshed.
Here’s a recipe for an essential oil blend we love!
Soaking in the Enchanted Forest
There’s something enchanting about sitting in the forest on a warm, moonlit night. It’s not just the stillness and softness of the breeze, it’s the aroma of the forest which studies show helps relax us. This essential oil blend will give you that heavenly feeling! You could use it as a room freshener spray, but adding it to bath salts creates an extraordinary experience.
Note: The recipe makes approximately 2 cups of bath salts. This blend will offer a combination of fresh, woody, and slightly citrusy notes for a revitalizing yet soothing bath salt mix. Psst… You can adjust the balance based on whether you want the blend to be more refreshing or grounding.
10 drops Fir Needle Silver or Fir Needle Balsam —Fresh, woody, slightly sweet-inspired scent
6 drops Cypress — Adds a woody, refreshing scent that enhances the forest vibe and supports relaxation.
5 drops Eucalyptus Globulus — Brings a fresh, clean, and invigorating aroma that complements the cooling and resinous qualities of Fir.
3 drops Rosemary — Adds an herbal, slightly camphorous scent, great for revitalizing and clearing the mind.
4 drops Lemon — Brightens the blend with a zesty, uplifting citrus note, balancing the earthiness.
2 drops Vetiver — A deep, grounding base note with earthy and smoky undertones that pairs well with Fir’s uplifting energy.
2 cups of Epsom salt (adjust based on how much you want to make).
½ cup baking soda (optional) extra soothing properties
Dried herbs like rosemary or lavender buds (optional) for texture and prettiness.
First mix the essential oil blend, then thoroughly stir it into the Epsom salt to ensure even distribution. Store the mixture in an airtight container, and when ready to use, add 1/2 to 1 cup of the bath salts to your warm bath water. As a reminder, don’t ever put essential oils directly into your bath water!
While making this detoxifying bath salts recipe for yourself, remember this is a great gift for loved ones, too! After all, who doesn’t need and deserve a break from daily stress?
