Maintain Wellness: Nurture More Ease and Balance
By Caryn Gehlmann
Here at e3, we love collaborating with wellness practitioners and learning from them about how to maintain wellness by achieving more ease and balance, despite all the external pressures we might be under. So I was happy to meet Jenna Gallagher, the owner of Southern Oregon OM, recently. Jenna focuses on three elements to support her clients on their wellness journey. So right away I knew we had something in common!
Tell us a little about your background and the inspiration behind your business.
I was born and raised in Oregon. I’ve always had a keen interest in health and wellness. When I was younger I pictured myself foraging herbs from the natural habitat around us, mashing up a poultice and then mushing them into people to cure their ailments. This interest drew me to Ayurvedic practices, primarily Massage Therapy, Yoga and Herbal Products. I’ve been practicing as a therapist here in the Rogue Valley for 4 years and have recently taken the leap and opened my own studio in Medford that focuses on those 3 elements, Southern Oregon OM.
How were you introduced to essential oils and how did you meet Caryn?
I was searching for Caryn and e3 but did not know it. A really important part in opening Southern Oregon OM was to give a platform for local businesses to let their products shine. Especially those owned or operated by women. I was looking for quality therapeutic essential oils to use in my treatments already when a friend referred me to Caryn.
What do you believe are the benefits of aromatherapy?
The benefits of aromatherapy are too numerous to list. Plants, being the original Medicine, are the answer to many of our dysfunctions. The potency of essential oils makes using them highly efficient and effective for diffusing and diluting for topical use.
Do you have any personal favorite essential oil blends, recipes, or applications?
I personally love e3’s Breathe Easy blend. I diffuse it daily in my yoga and massage practice. I love to spritz the Relax blend diluted in water over clients at the end of a yoga practice. I also make blends diluted in oil to balance the Dosha’s for Abyanga and Shirodhara Treatments.
Any other thoughts on how we can maintain wellness that you’d like to share?
Dis-ease in the body is manifested in a body that does not have ease. Ease of breath, movement and emotion is essential in health and wellness. Treating the body as a whole is the only way to prevent ailments and maintain balance.
Thanks, Jenna! We’re thrilled to have you as part of our Southern Oregon health and wellness community! Are you ready to figure out your perfect blend?
