The Benefits of Creating a Signature Scent
By Caryn Gehlmann
I’ve written many posts on the psychological benefits of aromatherapy. But one thing I haven’t talked about much is the benefits of becoming your own aromatherapist and blending essential oils so you can create a signature scent for yourself or a loved one. Have you ever considered creating your own blend of essential oils based on their scent notes?
If you haven’t ever tried blending before, don’t be intimidated. We’ve designed a workbook to give you simple, easy-to-follow guidelines to help you gain some experience, without overwhelming you with complexity. Download a free copy of The Art & Science Of Blending Essential Oil Workbook which will give you step-by-step instructions.
e3 has a vast assortment of essential oil blends our customers love, so why am I encouraging you to create your own blend or signature scent? Here are three benefits…
1. Creative Flow. Since the COVID pandemic began, more and more people are seeing the need to find a creative outlet. At times, we all need to just zone out and watch Netflix but to find a healthy flow, experts agree you need to take some sort of action. Baking, sewing, dancing, gardening, and painting are all activities recommended to help you get into a healthy state of flow. It’s time to add aromatherapy blending to that list as a flow activity. Like composing a musical symphony or baking a delicious cake, blending essential oils is part art and part science. It requires focus and creativity, making it a great activity to help you switch gears after a stressful day.
2. Ownership of Your Blend. Once you learn how to mix essential oils, you can come up with your very own signature scent that is as one-of-a-kind as you are. Or as you progress in your understanding of essential oils, you can create your very own therapeutic blend that addresses your unique health and wellness issues. In a world, that at times can feel a bit out of control, it’s very empowering to take ownership of something that you’ve created that brings you joy!
3. One-of-a-Kind Gifts. Do you love the sentiment behind making your own gifts? It’s a lovely way to show someone you love that you care enough about them to make them something special…no one else will have the signature scent you create for them! All you have to do is figure out what notes your friend needs — floral, spicy, woodsy — and that’s where our Art & Science of Blending Essential Oils will help. It’s also a fun and affordable way to make small but thoughtful gifts for friends and family during the holidays, as party favors, or for other special occasions.
