e3 News and What to Expect in 2019
By Caryn Gehlmann
Essential oils have become so much more popular than when I started e3 over a decade ago. So as we wrap up 2018, I wanted to share with you some e3 news and lessons learned. I had my staff ask me a few questions and I share my answers below.
Looking back on 2018, what are you the proudest of?
I’d have to say the continued relationships that we have with our clients both online and in person, at our store in Phoenix, Oregon. We have new clients we’re just starting to get to know and old clients we’ve been working with for years! But we deeply appreciate all that we learn from them.
What developments in aromatherapy was most surprising?
The increased UNSAFE USE OF ESSENTIAL OILS has been the most surprising trend we’ve noticed this year. We’ve spoken with people that are experiencing serious side effects from what’s being referred to as essential oil “morphine bombs”! They’ve been told by someone, with no medical background, that this will cure and heal them, when really ingesting essential oils, especially at these high doses is unsafe. We take the safe use of essential oils very seriously. It’s important for consumers to know that it’s not one size fits all and that just because essential oils are natural, doesn’t mean there aren’t possible serious side effects from incorrect use.
What were your most popular new products?
Our new e3 Forest Blend has been incredibly popular and overwhelming in demand. People are using it in spritzers, making soaps, diffusing it…. It also partners well with all the health benefits people receive from forest bathing.
Any lessons learned this year that you’d like to share?
It would be continued awareness of how unique and precious each of us is. So the choice of essential oils and the application that best fits us is best decided by us not someone else. I encourage everyone to be their own health advocate. Do your homework and don’t be afraid to ask questions. That’s why offering personalized aromatherapy is so important to me.
Looking forward to 2019, as a business, what e3 news can you share?
We will continue to add new essential oil blends, a few new products, and have fun supporting new businesses in their aromatherapy journey. You’re going to see more information about our private labeling partnerships in the coming year. A lot of people don’t realize that many essential oil distributors require minimum orders; e3 is one of the few that does not, which makes it super easy for small businesses to supply the needs of their clients. We’re also starting to add videos to our Facebook page as another way to share practical aromatherapy tips with our community. Honestly, this has taken me out of my comfort zone but the feedback has been really positive!
Thank you so much for your support! We really rely on you, as part of our e3 community, to share your thoughts, questions, and feedback. Please feel free to contact us anytime or reach out to us on Facebook. That’s where you’ll find the next “breaking” e3 news!
