Do You Carry Non Standard Essential Oils Like Cinnamon Bark?
Caryn Gehlmann, Clinical Aromatherapist
Did you know e3 carries over 100 rare, hard-to-find essential oils that we don’t list on our website? These are our non standard essential oils.
Our website features the essential oils most commonly purchased by our customers. But behind the scenes, we carry over 100 additional non standard essential oils — specialty, less frequently requested oils that we keep in stock for private-label blends, professional formulations, and our own internal projects. These oils may not appear on the website, but they’re absolutely available to any of our customers.
This Q&A with Caryn was prompted when one of our recent clients sent us this request: “I would like to buy Cinnamon Bark as I have a preference for that in my homemade immunity blend. Do you carry it? I only see Cinnamon Leaf on your site. I am getting ready for the cold/flu season and gifting some to my loved ones.”
I replied, “Yes, we carry Cinnamon Bark, but we consider it a Non Standard, so it is not listed on the website.” She happily completed her order, and we sent it to her. But this made us realize that we’ve never discussed this topic before. So it’s time we did.
What Are “Non Standard Essential Oils”?
In our world, non standard essential oils are:
- not listed on our website
- used in custom or private-label blends
- produced in smaller batches
- requested by clinicians, formulators, aromatherapists, spas, and makers
- not frequently purchased by the average consumer
These oils are 100% pure, GC/MS-tested (when available), and stored with the same quality care as all our standard oils.
Why Do We Offer Non Standard Essential Oils?
Because so many of our clients develop custom blends, signature aromas, and specialized formulations. Often these require a single rare floral, a specific resin, a unique citrus variety, or a harder-to-find species. We believe in supporting creativity and precision, not limiting it.
Small Quantities Available (By the mL)
Since many formulators and makers only need a small amount of a specialty oil for a single batch or test blend, we sell most non standard oils in mL quantities. This makes them perfect for:
- Small-batch formulators
- Private-label clients
- Clinical aromatherapy programs
- Makers testing new product designs
- Anyone building a one-of-a-kind blend
How to Order Non-Standard Oils
If you don’t see the oil you need on our website, there’s a very good chance we have it in our Non Standard inventory. We’re happy to check our stock or recommend alternatives if needed.
If you’re looking for a specialty oil contact us. We’ll confirm availability, pricing, minimum mL quantity, and shipping.
Note: If you’re creating a custom blend or private-label formula, we can include any non standard oils in your sample set.
We love helping our clients find the exact oils that bring their formulas to life. If you’re searching for something rare, unique, or not listed online, just ask. Chances are, we have it waiting on the shelf.
Getting Back to Cinnamon Bark & Cinnamon Leaf Essential Oils
Since we started with a question about Cinnamon essential oils, here are some details about Cinnamon Leaf and Bark…
Cinnamon Leaf and Cinnamon Bark essential oils both offer strong immune support, but they work in noticeably different ways. Cinnamon Leaf is rich in eugenol, the same main compound found in Clove Bud, giving it solid antimicrobial and antifungal strength without being as sharp or intense as Cinnamon Bark. Its aroma is warm, spicy, and slightly clove-like, with a more grounded, earthy feel. This makes it a gentler option for blends you want to use on your body or breathe in regularly. It still needs dilution, but it’s far less irritating than the Cinnamon Bark.
Cinnamon Bark essential oil is a very different experience. Dominated by cinnamaldehyde, it’s incredibly potent, both in aroma and therapeutic strength. It has a sweet, warm, powerful “true cinnamon” scent that instantly lifts the mood and brings intensity to any blend. Its antibacterial and antiviral actions are stronger than Cinnamon Leaf, but so is its potential to irritate the skin and mucous membranes. It’s not ideal for topical use.
If you’re creating blends for the body, including chest rubs, immune-supporting massage oils, or personal inhalers, Cinnamon Leaf is the safer and more balanced choice. If you want a powerhouse for diffusing during cold and flu season, uplifting the atmosphere, or adding a bold cinnamon note to a room spray or seasonal blend, Cinnamon Bark is the way to go.
