Pause and Breathe: Honoring Life, Loss, and Loving Hands Who Eased the Way
A personal letter to the e3 community from Caryn Gehlmann
With Deep Gratitude
To all of you who reached out, offered kind words, gave us grace, and stood by me as well as our entire e3 family during my Mom’s final days—Thank You.
Your support carried more weight than you may realize. In those tender weeks, our entire family had the honor of walking alongside my mom, supporting my dad as he cared for his partner of 71 years, and being fully present in each moment.
There is something quietly profound about the final chapter of a life well lived—especially when held with love, dignity, and gentleness. I had to pause often and breathe through the emotion so I wouldn’t miss a single moment.
Thank you for allowing space, for holding us in your thoughts, and for being part of this deeply human experience with us.
My mother was surrounded by an extraordinary, loving family. She was supported by a compassionate team at her assisted living community and the hospice angels who walked in with calm, practiced grace. Their care was more than medical; it was deeply human. We all felt blessed by the hands held, quiet reassurances, thoughtful glances, and a softness that filled the room.
While sitting with my mom, I spent moments labeling aromatherapy roll-ons for one of our private label clients. The timing was unexpected, yet the act became meditative and grounding. Aptly named Loved, Brave, Beautiful, Calm, and Healing, they seemed to mirror everything we were living through.
Family, friends, caregivers, and hospice nurses all commented on the comforting aroma as they walked into the room. I gifted these roll-ons as small gestures of care, simple offerings that brought comfort, presence, and peace in the moments they were needed most.
After my mother passed, my brother and I had the unexpected privilege to care for her body ourselves. It wasn’t something we had anticipated, but it became a tender and unforgettable gift. On the table nearby were two roll-ons from the set: Beautiful and Brave. It couldn’t have been more perfect. Those two words captured so much of what we were feeling — the grace our mother carried through her final days, the courage it took to say goodbye, and the deep love that filled the room.
To all of our e3 family and friends — thank you. Your kind words, patience, and support over these past two months have meant more than I can say, and I am deeply grateful. In memory of my mom, in gratitude to her caregivers, and in recognition of the quiet beauty found in life’s most tender moments — thank you for reading and for being part of this community that honors presence, scent, and shared humanity.
Pause and Breathe… making the ordinary extraordinary
Through this experience l was reminded of the sacredness of Breath. We come into this world with an inhale and we leave on an exhale. We tend to take the act of breathing for granted, because our bodies do it on autopilot. And before you know it, the decades have flown by. Yet there’s much we can do to make our breath more emotionally nourishing, improving the quality of our lives. Aromatherapy is a powerful ally for creating intentional pauses—moments to breathe deeply, reset, and return to yourself. Making your inhale and exhale mindful is not only calming, it’s life-affirming.
It’s my pleasure to introduce you to the woman behind these blends that meant so much to me: Rebecca, founder of Silver Orange. Her ability to create with care and intention is reflected in every bottle. Her blends became part of my grieving process — a way to honor my mother, to find moments of calm, and to begin healing. And I’m certain they can support you during moments you need a deeper ritual of Pause and Breathe.
I’m so grateful to be partnering with Rebecca to bring to you her collection of crystals and blends to help you Pause and Breathe through the intense moments of your life.
With love and gratitude,
Caryn
