Best Essential Oils for Travel – e3 Staff Favorites
By Caryn Gehlmann
As I considered who I wanted to interview to find out the best essential oils for travel, I looked around the room and realized I had all the experts I needed right in front of me. The staff here at e3 all love traveling, and we each have different essential oils we take with us to make our adventures to new and exciting places safer and more enjoyable.
So our E3 team is going to share their favorite essential oils for travel and tips on how to use them…
We’ll get started with a travel tip from Uilani Roberts, our Retail Inventory Manager.
Ui is from Hawaii so she’s often on an airplane flying back to the islands to visit family and friends. She’s not a big fan of airplanes — who is these days? So her favorite essential oil for travel is e3 Revitalize because it lightens her mood. She dilutes it and sprays it on her upper body and chest. She says it gives her a happier and more peaceful state of mind to deal with the headaches of air travel.
Next, we’ll get a tip from Lakita Dunkers, our Customer Relationship Manager and an experienced massage therapist.
Lakita’s favorite essential oil for travel is e3’s Head Soothe. She keeps a 10 ml bottle and a roll-on in her bag for ANY type of travel. She says she’ll smell it right out of the bottle, put a drop on a tissue, or use the roll-on. This is a great blend for travel because Lakita explains, “I like it for its versatility: soothes muscle aches, clears my head, settles stomach and it’s calming to me since I love the way it smells.”
Wendy Lampert, our AP/AR Manager, has a great travel tip to overcome sleep challenges.
Wendy doesn’t like sleeping in hotels so she always comes prepared with e3’s Relax Blend. She dilutes it and sprays it on pillowcases and sheets. It helps her relax and have a much better night’s sleep. Her husband, who was hesitant about using essential oils at first, now loves using e3’s Relax blend every night, whether they’re at home or on the road.
Raquel Davis, our Order & Inventory Coordinator, had a hard time picking her favorite essential oil for travel. She says, “I really love the Sleeptime to help me relax and create a safe environment for myself when I’m feeling uncomfortable or anxious.” But she decided that her favorite is the Bruise and Scar Roll-on to treat all the cuts and bruises that she gets on her adventures!
Next up is our Operations Manager, Denise Newell-Bresg, with her favorite essential oil to take on the road in her beautiful new Sapphire Blue Subaru.
Denise goes on quite a few road trips every year. She can get sleepy but whether she’s driving, or in the passenger seat, she wants to stay awake the entire time! So she makes sure to use peppermint essential oil. Denise makes a diluted roll-on that she can rub on her wrists, chest and the back of her neck. This gives her an edge so she can stay alert on the road. But she adds a caution. No essential oil or gallons of coffee can keep you awake if you’re body is overly tired. So if you’re too sleepy to drive pull over and take a nap.
No one on our staff has done more traveling recently than Marisa Lampert, our DIY expert and aromatherapy blender.
Marisa does extensive traveling across the country in her RV. She has very sensitive skin and changes in climates and different kinds of water can play havoc on her skin. That’s why she always carries e3’s Skin Care Blend with her. She blends it with our all natural lotion and it gently soothes her sensitive skin.
Finally, my own favorite essential oil for travel on an airplane.
Airplanes are notorious for germs and the last thing you want as you’re starting or ending your trip is to get sick! That’s why I always bring e3’s Protection Blend along, which is antimicrobial, antibacterial, and antiviral. I put a tissue in a baggie and place 15 drops on the tissue. That way I can inhale and it’s not intrusive to other passengers. I also don’t have to worry about having liquids in my carry-on.
